Quartzite

Quartzite a natural stone, is one of the most physically durable and chemically resistant rocks found today.  It is created from sandstone when extreme heat and pressure are involved.  The degree of pressure causes other minerals to be released resulting in formation of movement and color.   With a high hardness and extremely durable it is superior to most other materials used.   More durable then granite it stands up better to abrasion in stair treads, floor tiles, counter tops and vanities.

  • Quartzite requires very minimal maintenance
  • Clean with a damp soapy towel.
  • Do Not use any harsh chemicals. No Ammonia, Vinegar or anything that contains Citrus.
  • Stands up to heat but will remain hot to touch for a while.  Be careful.
  • Do not use any sharp objects directly on surface.

Granite

Granite one of the most popular and prestige materials used in the building industry.  Granite is defined by being made of corsed grain material consisting of feldspar and quarts ingenious rock.  Rock made up by interlocking crystals that can be seen by the human eye.  Not as hard as quartzite but can still be used on a variety of surfaces.  Granite comes in array of different colors, textures and movements all with distinctive markings.  It is quarried here in the United States and all over the world.

  • Minimal maintenance, cleans easy.
  • Do Not use any harsh chemicals. No Ammonia, Vinegar or anything that contains Citrus.
  • Highly heat resistant but will remain hot to touch.  Be careful.
  • Do not use any sharp objects directly on surface.

Marble

Marble is a metamorphic rock that is formed from limestone in extreme heat and pressure under the earth surface.  Although it contains minerals such as iron oxide, graphite and quartz to name a few, it is mainly composed of calcite which decreases the level of hardness making marble a soft stone.  The other minerals contain impurities which result in the coloring and veining in the marble.  Marble is well suited for wet area's but may be a premium choice where solid surfaces are wanted however, being porous it will patina over time.

  • High maintenance.
  • Do not use harsh chemicals.  No Ammonia, Vinegar or anything containing Citrus.  It will cause the stone to etch.
  • High heat resistant but will remain hot to touch for a while.  Be careful.
  • Do not use any sharp objects directly on the surface.

Quartz

Quartz also known as engineered stone, man-made by combining 90% ground quartz, 8-10% resins, polymers, and pigments. This results in a very hard surface making it durable and non-porous.  It is heat resistant but due to the amount of resin used, it is recommended to place hot objects on a towel.   Quartz material is listed under CaesarStone, Silestone, VicoStone and Cambria which, is the only quartz company that is mined and made entirely in the USA.  Being engineered material it offers a wide variety of color, texture and movement formation.  Can be installed anywhere solid surfaces are needed, residential and commercial.

  • Low maintenance.  Honed or Textured finishes require a little more attention.
  • Clean with a damp soapy towel
  • Medium heat resistant but will be warm to touch.  Be careful.

Travertine

Travertine is a type of limestone formed in hot springs variation in colors is due to a mixture of iron and other minerals.  It comes in a variety of colors ranging from light, natural earthly tones, neutral to very dark with shades of gold, white and brown.  They are available in  vein cut - natural veining is visible or cross cut - natural veining is voided.  Travertine is available in a polished, matte/honed, brushed or tumbled finish it is very resilient in terms of durability but porous. Can be used throughout the home, on floors and out doors.

  • Some maintenance is required.
  • Clean spills up immediately and don't let toiletries sit out on tops.
  • Heat resistant but recommended to use something underneath a hot pot. Will be hot to touch.  Be careful
  • Do Not use any harsh chemicals. No Ammonia, Vinegar or anything containing Citrus.  It will cause the stone to etch.
  • Do not use any sharp objects directly on the surface.
